With Windows 8/8.one The Product Key on preinstalled Operating Systems (HP, Acer, etc) is embedded in the BIOS in the Motherboard, so that the lost and/or worn C.O.A. Sticker problem is no more.
When you reinstall it will pick upwardly the Product Key and activate the system automatically.
If information technology does non or you accept activation problems, follow these steps:

Thank yous for your response, simply unfortunately this did not work. I have already wearied all of those options minus calling Microsoft. The primal that is embedded in BIOS is a Windows eight key, and the Windows viii.1 image will not have this key as a valid fundamental. I notwithstanding cannot activate Windows.

Cheers for your response, but unfortunately this did non work. I have already exhausted all of those options minus calling Microsoft. The key that is embedded in BIOS is a Windows 8 key, and the Windows 8.one image will not accept this cardinal as a valid key. I even so cannot activate Windows.
The reason why I advised you to call Microsoft:
I installed eight.1 onto the new hard drive via USB with a temporary production key hoping Windows would pick upwardly my Windows 8 key and and then activate. This did not piece of work.
We exercise non know what you mean past a temp PK.
There is a like method here but we have no idea what Central you used.

If you have an OEM Windows 8 product key and want to clean install West indows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Update, then yous would need to enter a generic central beneath to install unactivated with, and modify the product key later on in step 22 beneath to activate with your OEM Windows Key
If that does not work phone Microsoft.
